This week we fixed issue 168 so that opensocial_viewer_id is not included in makeRequest calls if the viewer doesn't have the app installed.
We've also enabled self-service signups on the orkut sandbox. New developers can now go to http://sandbox.orkut.com/SandboxSignup.aspx to sign up for the sandbox and start building apps right away.
